Illuminated Art Designed and Hand Made in New Zealand

My grandmother Sofija, a master gardener, lover of all things floral and this lamps namesake.
I may not have inherited her skill with plants but this is my version of bringing a garden to life.

Fresh Cut Flowers begins with the same form as
Baby Sofija but combines the pierced holes with larger
cut outs to create a different, bolder effect.

Sakura in Kyoto

Sakura - A trip to Japan in early spring as the first Cherry blossoms ( Sakura ) were beginning to open showed me how much pleasure people take in this annual event. I was surprised at how many people gathered in parks tree gazing often with a camera in hand to capture perfectly formed blooms. Of course I couldnt help but be drawn into the enthusiasm and this little lamp is the result.

Ikebana - Based loosly on the ideas of Ikebana this lamp is structured with three vertical branches
( traditionally representing heaven, earth and man )
which form the frame of this ball. Woody vines weave horizontally around them to support the orchards.
A combination of piercing and cutting creates a dramatic lighting effect, while the sculptural form is equally enticing when the lamp is off.

Rose Bud - A rose and leaf design is cut into the bud scattering the table top with petals of light. Each lamp starts with a free hand sketch so they are always unique.
